These limiting beliefs are crippling your personal branding efforts
LOI #3
I hear from a lot of salespeople who struggle hard with their social media.
Is it even worth it?
Use this guide to conquer your own limiting beliefs as you level up your social game in 2025:
Is cold calling vital? Networking? Sending newsletters? Pay attention to where people are paying attention. Today more and more attention is going to social media. This is not just for teenagers anymore. Bottom line, you need to meet your clients and prospects where they are. Period.
LIMITING BELIEF: I need to network with potential clients, why waste time online with people I don’t know?
Often times your target audience will see your posts because the attention from a broader community. First, establish reach and distribution, which often coincides with credibility in social. The more traction you get with your audience the more likely it reaches your target.
LIMITING BELIEF: I don’t have time to create content. I need to make money.
Reframe: You don’t YET have the skill set to quickly create content that connects.
Work on it. Giving yourself time to learn, think, write, process info, and communicate/interpret it is a life-hack that keeps me fresh. Creating, writing, and teaching are extensions of that attitude.
LIMITING BELIEF: I don’t want to be scrolling my phone all day.
Exercise personal boundaries. Save links to activity feeds on LI. Follow lists on Twitter. Turn off notifications. Comment in pockets. Don’t be controlled by dopamine (easier said than done).
LIMITING BELIEF: There’s nothing but toxic garbage on social media.
Your feed is a reflection of what you focus on. Curate your feeds and you’ll find thoughtful market commentary, thorough underwriting, exemplary service, and top-notch thought leadership. The experts are out there to find.
LIMITING BELIEF: Posting specific market data is dry.
Likely true. Find a way to deliver the steak with a little sizzle. Even if your market isn’t relevant to every person reading, your passion can be.
LIMITING BELIEF: I’ve posted a couple of times, and no one cares.
Welcome to the club, pal. There is no doing sales without rejection, and lots of it. Commit to doing one post a day every day for a year and see how everything changes.
LIMITING BELIEF: I’m struggling to strike the balance between being approachable and professional.
Don’t overthink it. Just be yourself, which will include a mix of personal stuff and business accomplishments. Your real estate journey is part professional (and hopefully) part fun. Let your feed reflect the journey. Above all else, BE AUTHENTIC.
Offering your genuine self is the meat of our conversation on yesterday’s Sales Life pod.
